Na companhia de Adam Kershaw, viajei até Nablus, uma cidade palestiniana localizada a 60 km a norte de Jerusalém, onde permaneci três semanas como voluntário num programa destinado a crianças de um dos campos de refugiados da cidade. Da nossa experiência vivida na Palestina, sobretudo nesta cidade, foi criada a exposição "Uma Terra Sem Gente Para Gente Sem Terra" que, desde 2007, tem sido apresentada em diversas localidades em Portugal e no estrangeiro. A exposição é composta por cartazes gráficos interactivos que, de uma forma descontraída, expõe a situação actual naquela zona do mundo, convidando as pessoas a colorir os mapas e os desenhos contidos nos cartazes. O livro homónimo, criado a partir dos conteúdos da exposição, foi publicado em 2009 numa edição de autor de 1000 exemplares. A exposição fotográfica presente neste espaço mostra, pela primeira vez, alguns registos capturados descomprometidamente através de uma máquina digital de bolso nessa viagem realizada a Nablus em 2006.

"Em 2006, o Nuno e eu fomos até Nablus, uma cidade na Cisjordânia. O jornal britânico The Guardian descreveu Nablus como "uma das cidades mais duramente atingidas na Cisjordânia durante a segunda Intifada que eclodiu em 2000, quando tanques israelitas e lutadores palestinianos colidiram em batalhas sangrentas nas ruas. Consequentemente, Israel impôs um recolher obrigatório, fez rusgas e montou checkpoints, tornando a outrora movimentada capital económica numa perigosa cidade fantasma" mas quando chegámos, encontrámos uma cidade a tentar recompor-se. Ainda se verificavam incursões israelitas na cidade, as pessoas viviam com a constante ameaça de ataques e violência na sua vida quotidiana e a única forma de entrar e de sair da cidade era feita através de checkpoints controlados por soldados israelistas mas, no entanto, encontrámos pessoas incrivelmente abertas, amigáveis, educadas, com prazer em falar abertamente sobre política, questões sociais e as suas esperanças para o futuro."

In the company of Adam Kershaw, I travelled to Nablus, a Palestinian town located 60 km north of Jerusalem, where I spent three weeks as a volunteer in a program working with children in one of refugee camps in the city. From our experience in Palestine, especially in this city, we created the exhibition "A Land Without People Without Land". Since 2007, it has been presented in various locations in Portugal and abroad. The exhibition is composed of interactive graphic posters which outline the current situation in that part of the world in a relaxed way, inviting people to colour in the maps and the drawings in the posters. The self-titled book, created from the contents of the exhibition, was published in 2009 in a self-published edition of 1000. The exhibition presented in this space shows, for the first time, some snapshots using a digital pocket camera in Nablus, in 2006.

"In 2006 Nuno and I went to Nablus, a city in the West Bank. British newspaper The Guardian described Nablus as "one of the hardest hit West Bank cities in the second Intifada that erupted in 2000, when Israeli tanks and Palestinian fighters clashed in raging street battles. Israeli curfews, raids and checkpoints ensued and the once bustling, economic capital became a gang-ridden, crime-afflicted ghost town". But when we arrived we found Nablus starting to find it's feet again. There were still Israeli incursions into the city, people still lived with the possibility of violence in their everyday lives, and the only way in and out was still through checkpoints guarded by Israeli soldiers, but we found incredibly open, friendly, educated people, happy to talk openly about politics, social issues and their hopes for the future."
